New Junior chess leagues – Captains sought

We have a notice from Leinster Chess Union as follows

The O’Sullivan Cup
LCU Junior Club league is open for entries. Teams will consist of 4 players rated below 1500 and under 15 years old. The Round Robin league will be played in home clubs venue by arrangement with the away team. Time control is 1 hour per player. Hopefully these arrangements can be flexible.  Once the number of interested teams is clear the timetable for games will be published. It is expected that there will be about 8 matches  between March and December.
Entry fee 25 euro per team. Entries by email to O’Sullivan Cup controller, Alex Goss at email

We need a few parents/guardians  to help run a junior team. Typically a team will have your child and perhaps four others who live locally. Your main task for the team/club will be to avoid giving walkovers, and keeping things cheerful and safe.
Full support from Coaches.

This Leinster junior league is suitable for our more ambitious players who want to play against other junior clubs and also  to earn an official ICU rating. The long time control for this junior league means this really  is top-level competitive junior chess.

Please  talk  with  Sean McLoughlin or Rudolf Tirziman at the club to find out more.
