The Mark of a Gentleman.

Mark Cummins

The first matches of the Club Championship have started with news of rumours that John Comey took Luke Scott a long way down the road before finally succumbing to the Master Slayer, which sounds like a fantastic effort on John’s part. Not merely a rumour, but  fact, Mark Cummins did more than that to his Bea Captain, by deservedly forcing a battling draw, and it could/should/ & would have been more in a titanic game which ebbed and flowed way past 90 moves. Why? Mark called a draw in his opponent’s severe time trouble…..you know the old Star Trek scenario where Captain Kirk escapes in the last second, well….you get the picture, and we all look forward to the next episode….I’m not so sure Stefan would be so keen to face Mark over the board again in a hurry!

Rightly, the plaudits go Mark’s way, and we leave the last word with Mark, as he departed the board…..”I think I’m improving a little…?!”

No Mark…..you’re not improving a little……………

……………………you’re improving……….a LOT!!!
