Irish Easter Results – just in

Sean McLoughlin (on the right)

Both Sean McLoughlin and John Delaney represented the club at the top Easter congress hosted by the Irish chess Union over the last few days.

John Delaney scored very poorly with 1/2 out of 9 in the IM norm event, coming a distant last.  Chess at that high level obviously requires serious time and commitment! “An enjoyable event and a pleasure to play strong players in Dublin!”.

Much more pleasant news for the club was the immensely strong result by Sean McLoughlin in the Closed all play all event. Sean played with huge energy and style throughout. The few losses arose out of refusals to take draws. Excellent result (5th) on which Sean can build going forward!

Playing conditions were very good. Lighting, spacing and other features were fantastic. As a club we can only try to replicate such conditions especially for our home matches and if we run our own chess congress!!
