Day 2 has just finished at the Gonzaga Classic and for most of our Clubmates, it hasn’t been without its rewards.
The Masters section sees Rudolf leading our contingent with 1.5/3, having gained revenge on Shane Melaugh. He now faces the talented Henry Li in round 4. Sean McLoughlin has 2 credible draws to his name and faces Bray’s Pat Reynolds tomorrow. Pat overcame Sean’s dad, albeit fortuitously in the Bray Summer tournament, so there will be some good planning to uphold family honour. Luke has yet to get off the mark, and tomorrow he faces another talented Junior in Alex Byrne. These two are normally contesting the higher places, so it shows just how strong this tournament is, and both players will come roaring back to form shortly……..of that , there is no doubt.
The Championship section sees Gabor Bolkeny and Robert McLoughlin sharing 8th place with 3/4 Danny Dwyer and Gavin Doyle have 2.5/4 with Gavin scoring an excellent draw against 6th seed Anastasia Mohylna. Vinajak Unitham has continued his good recent form with 2/4, performing above his current rating, as has Mark Cummins on 1.5/4. This augers well for the future….but a wee note of caution………..you’re going to have to get your skates on if you ALL want to finish in the top ten!!!…
Seriously, we’re proud of all of you, and wishing you happy hunting tomorrow.
