Bang Bang….we’re dead….or as good as!

Ancients 15 minute all play all

This vital relegation battle went as nearly all of our games have……………..the way of our opponents. Started badly……..as usual, …….and did not get any better along the way. Turning up late was only the start of our difficulties, well two of us anyway…with our Captain pacing the car park!! Not the best when the Sheriff of Naomh Barrog has picked a real slick team to aid him. First to fall was Phyllis after an improved showing in taking the game to her opponent. A passed e-pawn led to her king’s position being opened up and mate followed after. Phyllis can be rightly proud of her efforts. Another fighter was Michael, taking on the seasoned lawman himself and a stirring draw ensued……our Captain choosing a half over the opportunity of going for the point, a decision that he repeated later.  Mark played well and should have won, but another Jammy B of the Posse …….escaped with a draw. Words were exchanged at this point, and then Mark had to react further when noisy words and shouts later emanated from the corridor………from amongst members of the same team. Happy Campers………….we’re not……………..shades of the first team internally combusting in the Armstrong last year……………..and ending up RELEGATED!!

No one is saying a word…………………

Our Vermeer fought courageously against Naomh Barrog’s new Madrista on board 1 to no avail, lovely game to watch though, but another zero for us and that left the latecomers…..one more interested in Soccer, another draw and that was that, and an unwell Dinosaur…slower and crabbier than usual, battling his way through after an error strewn game, where both players missed any opportunity that presented itself…………… with……………..yet another draw for us…..& another winless game.. Naomh Barrog 4 Blanchardstown 2,  the end result and back deep in the mix. Since Christmas, and the departure of a couple of further players around that time…..morale has plummeted…to the extent that we may have to resort to Juniors for the final 2 games of the season…………..particularly if the decision of where to play Ratoath is taken out of our hands.

Can this season get any worse??…………the league have just awarded St Benildus another point which really does not help us at all.
