Leinster leagues. Heidenfeld review.

Hearing that the website is visited by chess buffs outside of the Club, I thought about adding a comment or two about each division. For some Club players, this is the only opportunity to play competitively…and why not discuss the various leagues. The relegated teams from last year’s Armstrong (St Benildus/Curragh) have both made an incredible fast start, racing clear of the field. Already, favourites Ballinasloe seem to have too much ground to make up, particularly after suffering a heavy defeat at Kildare. Rathmines & Elm Mount will surely contest a high placing, chasing the runaway twosome, with Lucan already involved at the right end of the table after gaining 2 useful wins. Newly promoted Drogheda & Bray should be able to consolidate their position, and Celbridge have too much experience to bounce downstairs, along with Inchicore. Which leaves Malahide & Phibsboro, who meet next week, most likely the teams to be anxiously looking over their shoulders. One thing’s for certain……we’ve just got started!
