Call for volunteers – parents to manage Mick Germaine teams (December 10th)

Please note that the main Leinster Team event for juniors of the year will be held in Drumcondra on Sunday 10th December, with a start time of 10.30am. (“Mick Germaine Cup”)

The club would like to enter as  many teams as possible but at present we are limited by a lack of parents to manage teams of juniors on the day.

Request for parents to volunteer

To allow us to enter teams in the competitions, we really need a large number of parents willing to volunteer to act as team captain and to mind a team (of four players)  on the day. Your own child will likely be on the team you lead, should you be able to help.

There is no need for chess knowledge and you will accompanied on the day by our club coaches and other Blanchardstown parents – and in fact be part of a large team effort.

If you can volunteer to be a captain of a team for the Mick Germaine events, please email me at

I hope to make a list of volunteers for the day! Feel free to talk to me during the Saturday Club session if you wish to discuss. These events really are good fun for everyone and are run very well by the Leinster Chess Union!

Details of the event can be found here at
