Training at the club!

Title: Huge Turnout and Brilliant Battles at the Blanchardstown Club Round Robin! ♟️

What a fantastic day of chess! We had an incredible turnout today with more than 30 players competing across a large number of structured events. The club was buzzing with energy, focus, and excellent sportsmanship from start to finish.

Beyond the tournament games, many of our players spent time focusing on the notoriously tricky Bishop and Knight vs. King endgame. It is one of the toughest checkmate patterns to master under pressure, and it was great to see everyone embracing the challenge and sharpening their endgame techniques!

In our main 6-player round-robin group, the competition was fierce. A massive congratulations to Cian, who played brilliantly to take clean first place with a stellar score of 4.5 points! The race for the podium was incredibly tight, with Ronald and John finishing just a half-point behind the leader to share a well-deserved joint second place with 4 points each, followed closely by Rian in fourth with 3.5 points.

An event of this scale doesn’t happen without a team behind it. A massive thank you to our arbiters and coordinators—Kieran, John, Gabor, Andrew, and Kevin—as well as the many parents who stepped up to manage the individual round-robin events. Your help kept the day running smoothly!

Thank you to everyone who came out, fought hard, and supported the club. See you all at the next club events

(Friday evening we run a Junior blitz from 7.30pm at Hansfield Educate together Junior school, and on Saturday at 230pm we run the second Junior club blitz of the season!)
