The Leinster Chess Union League is due to start in early September. The LCU have requested that we inform them by the 31st of August if we are withdrawing any of our League teams.
So far it is assumed that we will have the 5 teams from last year playing again this year, plus hopefully a new development team in Division 7 (if a volunteer can be found to coordinate it):
Those teams and their captains are:
- Heidenfeld : Randolf Bruin & Luke Scott
- Bodley A : Robbie McLoughlin & Stefan Bachowski
- Bodley B : John Comey and Mark Cummins
- O’Sullivan A : Richard Gallery and Filip Lajszczak
- O’Sullivan B : (volunteers sought)
The LCU leagues are senior competitions but many of our stronger juniors also play. Each team will have approximately 2 games per month around the various clubs in Leinster. Most games in Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare and Meath are played on Wednesday night (7.30 to 10.30pm) or Saturday afternoon for more distant counties. It is an ideal competition for parents and their children to play together.
If anybody from one of last year’s teams is not interested in playing next year can you please email us and let us know as soon as possible.
Those who are interested in playing again next year pleases to fill in the 2015/2016 membership form. Due to the shortfall in last years funds, it was agreed at our AGM that nobody could play on a team who and not paid their membership or entry fees by the first match of the league. There is some competition for places on the top teams, so don’t miss out.
Please use the credit card membership form if at all possible. The alternative form is for those without credit/debit cards, who need to use an alternative means of payment method.
Note: It is also a requirement of the league that you have an up to date ICU membership. This must be paid directly to the ICU after September 1st.
