Blanchardstown Junior Rapid Championship – 2023 – (Saturday, 2.30pm on November 18th/25th)

For Junior players (those under 18 players) we will hold our annual Junior Rapid Chess Championship at Mountview on November 18th/25th. . This event is limited to 50 entries on a first come first served basis. There is no entry fee this year. 1 Venue: the event will be held at Mountview Community Sports Hub (where the Blanchardtown Junior chess club meets each week, see Location tab for address details).

2 Time control: A “rapid” event means that both players are given 15 minutes each during which they must make all their moves. No time increment will apply.

3 Swiss format and playing dates: The Championship is run as a single 5 round Swiss Event (with all junior players in the same draw) with the games scheduled for the following dates:

Rounds 1, 2, 3: November 18th

Clocks for Round 1 will be started at 2.30 pm.

Rounds 4, 5 November 25th

Clocks will start at 2.30pm 25th November

(Adjustment to the playing schedule may arise if that is needed e.g. we might move Round 3 to November 25th if that is necessary due to time pressures on November 18th)

4 Titles and results

The following results will be declared:

Under 18 Junior Rapid Champion 2023 : – highest scoring junior under 18 years

Under 12 Junior Rapid Champion 2023: highest scoring junior aged 10 or 11

Under 10 Junior Rapid Champion 2023: highest scoring junior aged 9 years or younger

Girls Junior Rapid Champion 2023: highest scoring girl under 18 years

5 Entry fee: no fee is charged

NB: Entry limit: the facilities at Mountview can accomodate only 50 junior players so please be aware that you may not be allowed to play if the tournament is already full. Entry will be on a first come first served basis.

How to enter: Simply email your name and your date of birth to John Delaney at john.delaney.irl@gmail.com

You can also enter on the day (November 18th) but remember there is a 50 player limit in place. You will need to at the Junior Chess Club early (2.15pm) to ensure we have time to actually enter you in the event.
