Bea Cup Preview

Next Sunday sees the league completion at the Alsaa with differing fortunes for our teams. Concentrating on the Bea match v Phibsboro, our target has to be 4.5 points which will give us the Cup outright. Phibsboro, who were favourites for relegation pre-season, have confounded many as they have been on the fringe of the promotion battle in the early part of the year; then facing the toughest run in end of season fixtures, have taken points off everyone they’ve played. They only lost one game v Inchicore….we lost two, and it could have been worse were it not for an outrageous swindle on our Captain’s part! Phibsboro also took more than their expected share against DU, with a weakened team as well. There is absolutely no pressure whatsoever on Phibsboro, who have gained the most match draws in the league. Unless The Curragh beat Inchicore by the maximum score, or Dublin beat the University, both highly unlikely results, they are safe from the drop as Naomh Barrog also meet Celbridge in a winner stays up relegation decider. Forget their personal gradings, they are fiercely competitive and will want to finish on a high note……….beating us, or at least….spoiling our party. They are well capable of doing so……..its all up to us as a team now………no excuses!
