This weekend sees Kilkenny hold it’s Annual and well run Congress. This has attracted many a top player over the years, and it’s a regular fixture on the Irish Chess calendar.
Kilkenny is a picturesque town with a lovely atmosphere which carries through to the Chess fraternity. The end of tournament Blitz is well worth hanging on for as well, where it’s not uncommon to be playing against a titled player. Blanchardstown is strongly represented with Danny Dwyer, Gabor Bolkeny, Sean McLoughlin & Marius Antohi competing in the Major section. Robert McLoughlin carries the Club’s hopes in the James Mason Cup and the Challengers sees the apppearance of Padraig Dwyer and Mark Cummins who are amongst the top seeds. We wish them all well…go to it lads!!
