AGM – Development Report – June 2025

Notes and key observations by Marius Antoni

Meeting AGENDA

  1. Approval of AGM minutes 2024

Nothing to add

  1. Report by officers

Coaching:

I would like to held some presentations and have open discussions with the participants about training, games analysis, doing puzzles, etc, a few Monday nights in a row. I’ll bring my laptop and I’ll use the large TV in the classroom.

I propose to alternate the persons responsible for Senior and Juniors club meetings, and I would be happy to cover a few of these. Gabor and has done a great job this season covering most, if not all those nights, but it’s very exhausting for one person to look after this. Likely that John has looked after most of the juniors meetings, and that’s not fair for him also. We should have 4 persons covering these through rotation.

A calendar to be agreed before middle of Oct regarding this.

Players over 2000 to hold at least 1 coaching session either during Seniors or Juniors club meetings.

How can juniors be coached during their club day?

Membership:

I propose that players rated over 2000 to get free membership and the ICU feet to be paid by our club. Members who reach 2000 after the start of the season to get a refund for half of the membership fee. This to be advertised on club’s website? Maybe will attract some strong players to play for us.

Membership and ICU fees to be paid before the end of the year. An email with a reminder to be sent by start of Dec to those who haven’t paid, by the club Treasurer or Secretary?

  1. Motions for discussions
  1. T-shirts with Blanchardstown Chess Club embroilment to be provided to our team members playing in the European Chess Clubs Championship. This needs to be organised before middle of September as the completion starts early Oct.
  1. At least 1 FIDE/ICU rated tournament, preferably 2, to be organised by our club this next season. Those organised this season were a success. Margaritas, a very strong player, has joined our club following Jan. tournament. Maybe we’ll manage to get more strong players as well as maybe to get some extra money. These can be rapid time control 1 day events.
  1. Club to invest in training for 1 or 2 members to become arbiters before these tournaments are organised and they will participate as observers, trainee arbiters. Maybe soon we can run tournaments relying entirely on our club members. Club can invest in tournament software once we’re ready to run these tournaments.

4. Election of committee 2025/2026 season

5. Any other business

  • Review of Child Protection policy
  • Update of Club documents:
  • LCU Teams, captains identified

Marius offered to be Team captain for our Heindefeld Trophy team next season.

How many teams we can enter next season? And on what leagues?

  • Other matters
