We start our home account with a match against current league leaders Drogheda, who crushed St. Benildus 6-0 in their first match. Drogheda have been strengthened by the inclusion of Brendan Corrigan & Alan Dee from their top team, and with Sean Cummings displaying fine form, they are ably backed up by the experienced Philip Mitchell. John Doyle and Paddy McDonnell. They are free from selection worries this season, and have strength in depth. Early smoke signals are indicating that they are joined by a capable East European gentleman by the name of Martynas Gadauskas, Therefore, like us, Drogheda are much changed from last year, but that is where our similarity ends. Drogheda have to be considered genuine promotion contenders, and will be looking to further their promotion credentials at our expense. Early team news suggests that Mark could be without another regular from last year….as if things weren’t difficult enough. The task facing Captain Mark and his young depleted squad is a tough one, but could we perform as poorly as we did at Bray in gifting free points.. Current form suggests a victory stroll for the Drogs…….but matches are not won off the board. Go Blanch go!!!
So Blanchardstown is going to the Dogs… uh … Drogs. Best of luck, guys, and enjoy the season!
Hi Nick,
Nice to hear from you again. We’re not going to the dogs…we have a young team and we will nurture them as they progress… more Juniors in the pipeline. Sometimes you have to go backwards to progress, but they’ll get there
Of course you’re not going to the dogs, mate. Just hoped you’d still remember the old expression from the Boyne Valley Hotel.
Always remember you with fondness Nick, you were a breath of fresh air and a Captain Fantastic!! You are always welcome to come down for a game….no offence intended or taken and the soon to follow match report will reveal our Droggie-land encounter. Thanks for your support.
